Programme Outcome

At History Department, we try to take utmost care to ensure that, the students can understand the basic skills of the historians and to develop their own skills of understanding the society, on the basis of the past experience. Efforts are made to inculcate a logical and a rational sense among the students so that they can approach social issues of the day in a sensible manner and look upon the present developments not in isolation but as events that are influenced from events of the past. During the 2023-2024 session the newly introduced NEPadds a new dimension to the existing structure. It introduces the four-year programme with major and minor courses and three-year programme with multidisciplinary courses. For the session of 2023-24 only Core Course I has been introduced for the first semester students. This course with an interdisciplinary approach, will help students trace elements of continuity and changes in processes spanning over several millennia, from pre historic times up to the 300 BCE. The paper ‘Museum and Archives’ purposes to give a vivid idea about the functions and significance of museum and archives in the study of history. For future endeavours this topic helps to understand the importance of primary sources in reconstructing history.
